Where are you located?
I have a virtual office where we meet remotely. Your location can be any private space with access to Wi-Fi within the states of New York or New Jersey.
Why do I need to reside in New York or New Jersey for therapy sessions?
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of New York (#089773) and New Jersey (#44SC05940600). I am not authorized to provide psychotherapy services in any other state.
How often do we meet?
Therapy sessions are typically held weekly. As progress is made, we may shift to biweekly sessions.
What therapy modalities do you use?
I use modalities I most believe in for efficacy. These are Internal Family Systems (also known as “Parts Work”) and Somatic (body-based) therapies. I also sprinkle in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to understand how our thoughts and behavioral choices affect our lived experience.
Do you take insurance?
No. I am an out-of-network provider. Insurance companies can limit the number of sessions and have other rules that can negatively impact your therapeutic process and progress.
Can I still use my insurance?
Maybe. If you have a PPO, you can likely receive reimbursement for therapy sessions after meeting a deductible. If you have an HMO, you must choose a provider on their list – I’m not on their list. Please check with your insurance provider and ask what your “Out-Of-Network Benefits” are.
I can provide you with a Superbill (insurance term for a Paid Invoice) each month, and you can submit that to your insurance provider for direct reimbursement.
In most cases, you can use your Health Savings (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) if you have one. Please check with them to confirm.
How many sessions do I need?
It’s personalized. You may be in therapy for three months or three years. It depends on your challenges and your healing goals.
I’ve heard about group therapy. Is this something you offer?
What’s your cancellation policy?
I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. You can cancel any time before 48 hours of the scheduled session at no charge. If you are within the 48-hour window, you can reschedule at a mutually agreed-upon time at no charge. You will be charged the full session fee if you do not reschedule or no-show.
If you cancel three sessions in a row, we’ll need to evaluate if it’s worth continuing with therapy.
Why are you such a stickler about cancellations?
Consistency is key to creating a therapeutic relationship and building momentum around the work. Inconsistency does not reap rewards. I want your therapy experience to be successful, and I suspect you want this, too!
Who is your ideal client?
My approach is most effective for people who are ready and motivated to show up and do the transformational work. Many have been in therapy before, so they know the “basics” of what therapy is and, in particular, the struggle of facing fear around change yet sticking with it and experiencing important breakthroughs.
Those interested in staying in their head by talking the entire session are not a good match, because I provide an embodied approach to healing that connects mind and body for a deep sense of wholeness and sustainable well-being.
How do I start?
We begin with a free 15-minute consultation to ensure we are a good match.
Does anyone cry in front of you?
Do I have to tell you everything?
You only need to tell me as much as you are ready to. Therapy, especially at the start, is a vulnerable process of trusting that another person can hold space for all parts of you. Please know I can hold space for anything that you bring. Although I am intuitive, I am not a mind reader, so unless you share something with me, I cannot help you process it.
What do you do for fun?
Do you read much?
Mountains or Ocean?
I love both so much. The soothing waves and smell of salt air are incredibly calming and inviting. For a while, I lived at Rockaway Beach, which was so dreamy: a block from the expansive ocean and a block from the A train into the city. Yet, for the sports I do, if I had to choose just one, it would be the mountains – Big Snowy Ones!
